Good afternoon West Salisbury families, this is your child’s principal Mr. Binns. We want to wish you a happy Sunday and hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Here are a few announcements for this week. We want to thank Ms. Nutter and her team for an amazing Fall Family Festival event on Friday. Thank you to all of our families that came out to attend. What an amazing turn out. On Tuesday, our first grade parents are invited to attend an ELA Parent Workshop with Mrs. Gilmore and Mrs. Schissler right here at West Salisbury Elementary from 9 a.m. -10 a.m. on Friday we will have our first PBIS incentive. Finally, in an attempt to encourage good attendance and being on time we want to give our parents encouragement to please make every effort to have your child on time and to be in school. Attendance matters. When your child is 5 minutes late per day they miss 3.4 days of instruction, when they are 15 minutes late per day they miss 10.3 days of instruction, if your child comes to school 30 minutes per day they miss 20.7 days of instruction. Attendance matters, when your child misses 2 days of school per month they miss 20 days a year which is 30 hours of math instruction and 60 hours of reading and writing instruction. The point we are trying to make is that absences and latenesses add up. Your child’s education matters because our tiger cubs are worth it. Please do everything you can to have them to school and on time. We love our tiger cubs and want them to receive an amazing education. Well that is it for now. We are the tiger nation. Tigers let me hear you roar. ROAR!!!
Men kèk anons pou semèn sa a. Nou vle remèsye Madam Nutter ak ekip li a pou yon evènman etonan Festival Fanmi Otòn nan Vandredi. Ala yon etonan vire soti. Finalman, nan yon tantativ ankouraje bon prezans ak alè, nou vle bay paran nou ankourajman pou tanpri fè tout efò pou fè pitit ou a alè epi pou yo ale lekòl. Prezans enpòtan. Lè pitit ou a 5 minit an reta pa jou li rate 3.4 jou ansèyman, lè li 15 minit an reta pa jou li manke 10.3 jou ansèyman, si pitit ou a vin lekòl 30 minit pa jou li manke 20.7 jou ansèyman. Prezans enpòtan, Lè pitit ou a rate 2 jou lekòl pa mwa, li manke 20 jou pa ane ki se 30 èdtan ansèyman matematik ak 60 èdtan ansèyman lekti ak ekriti. Pwen an nou ap eseye fè se ke absans ak reta ajoute.
¡¡¡RUGIDO!!!

Unity Day- WEAR YOUR ORANGE
Wednesday, Oct 18th
Why unity?
For years, bullying was justified with expressions such as, “Bullying is a natural part of childhood,” “Bullying makes kids tougher,” or “Bullying is a rite of passage.” The goal of Unity Day is to bring together youth, parents, educators, businesses, and community members across the nation to emphasize the message that bullying is not acceptable, and that all students deserve to be safe in school, online, and in the community.
Why the color orange?
Unity Day is celebrated in October, and orange is a color commonly identified with the month and the fall season. It is also a color that is associated with safety and visibility. It is a color described as warm and inviting, and its vibrancy makes an impactful statement.
Why just a day?
The event provides a catalyst for everyone to come together with a visual statement that our actions matter not only on one day, but every day.
