Mr. Kimandi Binns

Principal

Mr. Kimandi Binns, known to many as "Kimmy," was born and raised in Bermuda. He received a full athletic scholarship to play soccer at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where he received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees in Special Education. Mr. Binns taught for five years at the elementary level in Bermuda, and spent 12 years as a Special Education teacher at Mardela Middle and High School. While there he was the head coach for boys soccer for five years, and an assistant coach in basketball for two years. He served on various committees while working at MMHS. Mr. Binns started his administrative career at James M. Bennett High by serving as the Dean of Students before becoming an assistant principal and administrator of athletics. Mr. Binns joined West Salisbury Elementary as assistant principal in the winter of November 2020. He is a sports enthusiast and was inducted into the UMES Hall of Fame for soccer. Mr. Binns is married to Twynette Binns, who is also an assistant principal in Wicomico County, and they have two daughters, one son, and three granddaughters.

Ms. Lauren Monroe

Assistant Principal

Ms. Monroe grew up in Salisbury and attended Wicomico County Public Schools, graduating from Wicomico High School. She continued her education at Salisbury University for Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education & Elementary Education, Master of Education, Reading Specialist, and Post-Masters certification in Educational Leadership. Ms. Monroe began her career with Wicomico County Public Schools in 2007 at the Wicomico Early Learning Center teaching full-day Prekindergarten. She was named the Wicomico County Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor for Salisbury University and a Master Teacher for the Maryland State Department of Education. In 2018, she served as Lead Teacher for Early Childhood Programs for Wicomico County Public Schools under the direction of the Supervisor of Early Childhood. Then began her journey as an Assistant Principal in 2019. Ms. Monroe loves the Tiger Family at West Salisbury Elementary! She believes in providing scholars and families a rigorous learning environment that is developmentally appropriate for primary learners.

Mrs. Allison Harrington

Dean of Students

Mrs. Allison Harrington, a Salisbury native, is a proud graduate of Wicomico County Public Schools, with her high school education completed at Parkside High School. She furthered her academic journey at Salisbury University, where she not only excelled academically but also displayed leadership as the Captain of the Salisbury University Women's Tennis Team. Mrs. Harrington graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education & Elementary Education.

In 2015, Mrs. Harrington embarked on her teaching career with Wicomico County Public Schools, joining Fruitland Intermediate School as a 4th-grade teacher. Over seven years at Fruitland Intermediate, she took on several leadership roles within the school community, demonstrated her commitment to education by becoming a Teacher of the Year Finalist, and served as the Elementary Summer School Assistant Coordinator. During this time, she also achieved a milestone by earning her Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Salisbury University.

Mrs. Harrington firmly believes that every day, educators possess the power to uncover the positive worth and potential within each student who walks through the school's halls. Her mission is to empower students to replace their fears and doubts with courage and passion, guiding them to realize their purpose within this world, our community, and their future.
