Much to the dismay of our Parkside CTE social media guru who did not agree to this but will play nice 😊 Did we say only 50 honorees?  The RAMFAM has been fortunate to have remarkable administrators since Parkside High School opened in 1975, each leaving behind their own lasting legacies, that have shaped the culture we cherish today. At the head of our herd for our 50th year stands none other than 1991 student-athlete and proud graduate Brian Briggs. Still known to wear his Varsity jacket, Mr. Briggs embodies the pride of being a Ram and never misses a chance to inspire our students to do the same. From his days on the field to his leadership as an administrator, Brian Briggs has made a lasting impact on his teammates, our school, and the entire community.

On September 2nd, 1975, Mr. Tony Sarbanes, first principal of Parkside High School, opened the doors of Parkside for the first time ever to students. Today, September 2nd, 2025, 50 years to that day, Mr. Tony Sarbanes stopped by Parkside High School to welcome the Parkside High Class of 2029 and ring in the 50th year for Parkside. Mr. Sarbanes was able to visit a classroom, stop by the Parkside Auditorium (which wasn't completed on the 1st day of classes in September 1975) to see the picture of former Wicomico County Public Schools superintendent Royd A. Mahaffey who named Mr. Sarbanes as the first principal of Parkside and also why we are RAMs, and meet with Assistant Superintendent Chief Academic Officer Dr. Rick Briggs and current principal Brian Briggs (both proud Parkside graduates, 1994 and 1991 respectively). Parkside High School owes its legacy of pride, tradition, and excellence to its strong beginnings in the 1970s with Mr. Sarbanes. We are fortunate to be able to have Mr. Sarbanes still a vital member of the RAMFAM and always checking in on things. Mr. Sarbanes is a perfect example of Once A RAM, Always A RAM! Thank you again Mr. Sarbanes for stopping by and welcoming our new class! We appreciate you! 💚🤍🐏🤍💚

This morning is all about welcoming the Parkside High Class of 2029 to the RAMFAM! They are split up in groups where they will be: getting tours, designing their own tie-dye shirt that they get to keep, working on our new Parkside LEGACY Wall, getting and signing into their laptops, and getting a chance for some team building and fun activities in Andy's Hall. Plenty more fun to come, including getting a chance to go to all of their classes, as well as taking a group photo of our Parkside High Class of 2029.

Today we will start our Parkside Teacher Who Made a Difference celebration. We will be honoring the teachers who made a difference during the 50 years of Parkside High School. We are beginning with the first teacher to receive multiple nominations from the RAMFAM, Mr. Ron Wainwright. Here are a sampling of what students had to say about Mr. Wainwright:

I just loved being in his class. He's always been supportive on and off the court, field and track. Always filled me with so much life and energy. Even when he used to ref our games he would give me little tips to perform the best I could. Even now he's still an encouragement in my life and definitely one of the best things to happen at Parkside.

Mr. Wainwright inspired me to become a teacher with his enthusiasm for US history. Once I set foot in his APUSH class I knew I wanted to be a teacher too.

Keep those nominations coming! Thank you to everyone who has already nominated a Parkside Teacher Who Made a Difference! Here is the link:

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed!  Keep them coming!   Here, you see some teachers who were at Parkside High School on Day 1 when it opened in 1975!   Good evening, RAMFAM! As we celebrate Parkside High School’s 50th Anniversary, we want to honor the teachers and staff who have made a lasting impact on the lives of our students. We need your help!  If you are a current student or proud alumnus, please take a moment to fill out the form below and share your story. Your response will not only be featured on our social media but will also be shared directly with the staff member—when possible—so they can see the difference they made. This is your chance to say “thank you” and let your teachers know the impact they’ve had on your life.  Click the link below to submit your story, and stay tuned as we begin showcasing these legacies in the coming weeks.
