Today we kicked off Read Across America Week with our first guest reader, Dr. Stauffer, Superintendent of Wicomico County Public Schools! He visited Ms. Truitt’s Prekindergarten class and shared a special story to start our celebration of reading.
We’re excited to welcome more guest readers throughout the week. Each classroom will have a special visitor read to them as we celebrate our love of reading! 📚✨

We’re continuing our Wild About Reading Spirit Week for Read Across America! 🐒📚
Tuesday: “Tou-Can” Read Anything! 🐦✨
Show your spirit by wearing black with bright colors — just like a colorful toucan!
We love seeing our students celebrate the joy of reading in fun and creative ways! 🖤📖

These students met their reading and math goals and were rewarded with a special treat — a book from our Book Vending Machine! 📚✨
We are so proud of their hard work and dedication. Keep reaching for those goals, Kindergarten! 💙

We are excited to celebrate our January Ripley’s Incredible Kids Award winners! 🎉
These students were chosen by their teachers for demonstrating outstanding behavior, leadership, and hard work. As a special reward, each student received a ticket for their entire family to visit Ripley's Believe It or Not! in Ocean City!
Congratulations to: Elena, Ja'Kyla, Asiem, Skai, Sophia, Peyton, Djalika, Kenneth, Nalani, Dean, Greyson, Edith, Evelyn, Djulie, Thiago, Mariana, Vanessa, Daniela, and Kali.
We are so proud of you! 👏✨

We’re kicking off Spirit Week on Monday with Monkey Around with a Good Book!
Students can wear silly, mismatched, or brown clothing — or “go bananas” in bright yellow! 🍌
We can’t wait to see everyone show their wild reading spirit! 🐾✨

We are proud of our students for showing dedication and commitment to being at school each day! Improved attendance means more learning, more growth, and more success. Keep up the great work — every day counts! 📚✨

This is a school status announcement for Wednesday, February 25th: Wicomico County Public Schools will have a 90-minute delay on Wednesday. Breakfast will not be served. Schools may provide specific information about the day’s schedule.
Note: A chart with 90-minute delay times can be found on the School Hours page of our website:

✨ 100 Jump Club & Cup Stacking Sub-5 Second Club! ✨
Shoutout to our amazing Jump-Rope Super Stars who crushed 100 consecutive jumps and earned their spot in the 100 Jump Club! 💪
And a big round of applause for our lightning-fast student who made it into the Cup Stacking Sub-5 Second Club — stacking with speed and precision in under 5 seconds! ⚡
We are so proud of their focus, perseverance, and hard work. Keep jumping, stacking, and shining! ⭐👏

Please note that this will use the final make-up day built into the approved school calendar. After this closure, Wicomico Schools will be ready to transition to a virtual instruction day the next time conditions necessitate the closure of school buildings.
Meeting date change: The Wicomico County Board of Education special meeting and work session has been moved from Tuesday morning to Thursday, Feb. 26 at 8:30 a.m.

Join us as we show our school spirit by dressing up each day! Participation is optional, but we would love to see everyone join in the fun.
We will also have special guest readers from our community visiting classrooms throughout the week to share their love of reading with our students. ❤️📖
Let’s get ready for a WILD week of reading! 🐯📚

Students will learn how to keep their hearts, bodies, and brains healthy while helping kids with special hearts live longer, healthier lives. It’s a fun way to build healthy habits and spread kindness!

We are proud to recognize our 336 students who achieved perfect or outstanding attendance this semester! Each student went home with a small sweet treat to celebrate their hard work and commitment.
Starting in March, PreK students will also be included in our attendance incentives based on February attendance, continuing our focus on encouraging every learner to be present and engaged.
Here’s to celebrating everyone’s dedication in our learning community! 💛
