Thanks to all of the dedicated leaders from throughout Wicomico County Public Schools who committed their Thursday to taking part in the School Safety Summit, held at James M. Bennett High. The summit was put on by the Department of School Climate and Safety,, and was led by Tara O'Barsky, Director of School Climate & Safety, and members of her team.
The day's focus was on the first of Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah Stauffer's strategic priorities: School Climate & Safety. Participants learned more about:
Physical Safety Layers (Preparing a Safe Physical Environment)
Setting the Foundation for Psychological Safety (Building a Strong Social Environment)
Tiered Response to Psychological Safety (Ensuring a Strong Attentive Environment)
Our schools and school system are preparing for a great 2025-2026 school year with safe learning environments that support learning, student achievement and engagement, a high-performing workforce, and ample opportunity for family and community engagement.
Woo Hoo! JUST 5 WEEKS AWAY!!! The annual “Fresh Start: A Wicomico County Back-to-School Event” is returning on Sunday, August 24th at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
This is for Wicomico County students in-need from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Students will receive a Free backpack along with several essential school supplies (while supplies last, as this is first-come, first-served). A child must be present with an adult to receive school supplies.

As Fries' 3rd grade class wraps up the year, they get to enjoy a wonderful pancake breakfast! Everyone has worked so hard this year. 💙
Last week our second graders had a blast with their secret mission - finding letters that spelled “BUBBLES”! 🫧
🕵️🕵️♂️Each class worked together to unscramble the letters and earned extra recess plus bubbles to celebrate!
Last week’s Title I PFE Play and Laugh Family Reading and Math Game Day was a blast! 👨👩👧👦🎲 Thanks to all the families who came out to learn and play together.
